As a Redshirt Sophomore (2023):

Roman Hemby, a force to be reckoned with for the University of Maryland, showcased his versatility and consistency in all 13 games of the season. Rushing for 680 yards on 142 carries, averaging 4.8 yards per carry, and scoring four touchdowns, he proved his prowess on the ground. Additionally, Hemby demonstrated his receiving skills, catching 38 passes for 349 yards and three touchdowns. Notable highlights include a 61-yard reception in the TransPerfect Music City Bowl and a standout 100-yard rushing game against Rutgers. His contributions were crucial in key victories, including an impressive performance against Charlotte, where he tallied 217 total yards and a touchdown. Hemby's impact on the field solidified his reputation as a standout player in college football.

As a Sophomore (2022): 

Roman Hemby made an immediate impact for the University of Maryland, establishing himself as one of the most promising freshmen in college football. Starting in all 13 games, he showcased his dynamic skill set, ranking third among all FBS freshmen in yards from scrimmage with an impressive total of 1,287 yards. Hemby's ten rushing touchdowns set a Maryland freshman record, earning him Honorable Mention All-Big Ten honors. Throughout the season, he consistently delivered stellar performances, including a standout game against Northwestern where he rushed for 179 yards, including a game-winning 75-yard touchdown run. Hemby's versatility was on full display in various matchups, including his performance against SMU, where he rushed for 151 yards and caught four passes for 62 yards, becoming the first Terrapin in 25 years to do so. His explosive playmaking ability and impact in critical moments solidified his status as a rising star in college football.

As a Freshman (2021): 

In his debut season with the University of Maryland, Roman Hemby made significant contributions to the team's success despite appearing in only four games at running back. Displaying his knack for finding the end zone, he totaled 17 rushes for 71 yards, averaging an impressive 4.2 yards per carry, and scoring two touchdowns. Notably, in his first career game against Howard, Hemby rushed 12 times for 45 yards, showcasing his scoring ability with a touchdown in the fourth quarter. His impact was further evident in the New Era Pinstripe Bowl against Virginia Tech, where he ran five times for 26 yards, including a crucial two-yard touchdown that helped solidify Maryland's victory. Despite limited opportunities, Hemby's performance demonstrated his potential as a valuable asset to the team's future success.

Before Maryland: 

Roman Hemby's high school tenure at John Carroll High School was marked by outstanding athletic performance and academic achievement. Accumulating 1,543 rushing yards and 18 touchdowns over two seasons, he showcased his versatility with an additional 568 receiving yards and seven touchdowns. Hemby's prowess earned him accolades such as 2019 First Team All-MIAA and two-time All-County honors. Notably, he was named John Carroll's Offensive MVP in 2019 and Offensive Rookie of the Year in 2018. Alongside his athletic accomplishments, Hemby maintained academic excellence as an Honor Roll student for all four years. His dedication both on and off the field highlights his character and sets a strong foundation for future success.
